the john holmes molecule of proteins

One of the holy grails of computation biology is protein folding. That is, given a gene sequence, attempt to predict what type of protein the long chains of amino acids will fold into.

The monster protein HSP-60

is a demoralizing site to all the stubborn computer scientests that in their head pictured much more simple molecules like myoglobin .

It is amazing to consider looking at the intricacies of these megaformations just how uniformly the biological processes occur- especially given such a turbulent environment of tremendously varying, heat, acidity, etc. etc.
